Founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994, Amazon began as an online bookstore but quickly expanded into selling DVDs, CDs, video games, electronics, and more. Today, Amazon sells products through its website and third-party sellers on its marketplace platform. Amazon's business model is unique because it allows companies to sell their goods directly to consumers without buying inventory or building a distribution network. Amazon takes a cut of each sale made through its marketplace platform and charges fees for services like Prime shipping and Amazon Echo sales.
Amazon internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for eight consecutive weeks (two months). Whether you’re graduating with an undergraduate degree, Master’s degree, MBA, or PhD, Amazon teams have internship positions available globally. Amazon internships are designed to provide students with an understanding of what it’s like to work at Amazon. Interns do work that makes a big impact—diving into products, programs, and services that touch millions of customers. Participants start with a comprehensive onboarding experience, have the opportunity to connect with other interns (in addition to their manager, mentor, and team), and wrap up their internship with a presentation of their project to Amazon employees.
The comprehensive benefits begin on day one for regular full-time employees including health care coverage, parental leave, ways to save for the future, and other resources to improve health and well-being. Taking care of employees' health and wellness is a priority.
Amazon believes everyone should have the opportunity to learn new skills and build their career at Amazon or elsewhere. That's why as part of their mission of being Earth's Best Employer, they made a $1.2 billion commitment to investing in the upskilling of employees with free skills training, tuition support programs, a variety of certifications, and more to help improve the abilities of employees. The Career Choice program is uniquely designed for associates interested in learning about and pursuing a future at Amazon — or elsewhere. It helps fund college tuition for associates looking to complete a high school diploma, GED, Bachelor's degree, and English as a Second Language (ESL) proficiency certifications. Career Choice also provides funding for employees studying aircraft mechanics, welding, medical billing, nursing, and other fields. Associates can participate in the Career Choice opportunities after 90 days of employment and can participate for as many years as they work at Amazon.

Amazon is a results-driven company. Its work culture is centred around productivity and innovation. The company keeps its teams small, which gives team members full-on responsibility and accountability for the task at hand. The introduction of team tenets helps employees make decisions that positively impact the company, as they can approach issues without having to take permissions that might end up being shut off.
