Cloud Mainframe Engineer

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in cloud architecture software engineering
• 2 years of experience managing internal or client-facing projects to completion
• Experience coding/scripting in Java, Python, or similar languages
• Experience with mainframe technologies (e.g., COBOL, JCL, RPGLE, PL/1), and experience troubleshooting clients' technical issues

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Mainframe Migration to cloud with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or a similar platform
• Experience with Cloud products (e.g., GCP or other similar technologies)
• Experience with multiple legacy languages and platforms (e.g., COBOL, JCL, Assembler, RPGLE, Natural Adabas and TPF) and legacy environments (e.g., IBM Mainframes, AS400 databases such as IMS, IDMS, DB2, VSAM, PL/SQL)
• Experience with web standards (e.g., REST APIs, web security mechanisms)
• Experience in system administration tasks in Linux, Unix, or Windows
• Familiarity with standard IT security practices (e.g., encryption, certificates, key management)

As a Cloud Mainframe Engineer, you will guide customers on how to configure, migrate, and deploy their mainframe systems on Google Cloud. You may have to travel to customer sites to deploy solutions and deliver workshops to educate and empower customers. Additionally, you will work with product teams to drive excellence in Google Cloud products and features.

In this role, you will work with Google's most strategic Cloud customers. Along with the team, you will support customer implementation of Google Cloud products through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, capacity planning, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and much more.

Responsibilities

• Be a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex Cloud Mainframe migration challenges.
• Create and deliver best practices recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, sample code, and technical presentations adapting to different levels of key business and technical stakeholders.
• Travel up to 30% and frequently use video conferencing for in-region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.
