Job Description

Role Purpose:

HSBC's Markets and Securities Services (MSS) business is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets. The services are offered through a network of 87 treasury sites in more than 60 countries and territories worldwide. The trading and sales forces attend to customers that include the world's central banks, international and local corporations, institutional investors, financial institutions, and other market participants. GM specializes in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, and equity and equity-linked capital markets.

The candidate will be part of the Risk Processes and Controls team which is part of the Global Control Office, ensuring the adequacy and efficacy of the control environment.

The role will be to support the Controls office and manage various risk and control tasks for the Global Markets personnel across all the locations.

What you’ll do:

Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision-making areas
Impact on the Business/Function:

  • Support the ongoing enhancement of the Training Framework for Global Markets.
  • Monitor, track, maintain and report on the status of the training of global markets personnel.
  • Other specific projects or tasks related to these topics as directed by management.

Typical Targets and Measures:

  • Publishing accurate ad-hoc reports/meeting packs/updates
  • Responding to queries and enhancing risk and control assessment data

Customers / Stakeholders:

  • Markets COO Community including Regional and Asset Class COOs and associated Business Managers.
  • Markets senior management community – including Global Product Heads, Country Balance Sheet Heads, and the GM Chief Control Officer and associated resources.
  • Global Banking and Markets Training team, business and GSC Markets Head.

Typical Targets and Measures:

  • Feedback from Key Markets stakeholders
  • Ability to turn around deliverables with a short lead time

Leadership & Teamwork:

  • Effective support within the team and the ability to step up
  • Operational Effectiveness & Control.
  • Support in streamlining the Training process and assist in expanding the scope to MSS-wide.
  • Support the continuing development, implementation, and improvement of the processes, structures, capabilities, capacity, and infrastructure needed to deliver Markets Training.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of management information, analysis,s and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision-making at all levels

Major Challenges:

  • The function is at a nascent stage and needs a proper structure to be built in managing the administration of the training delivery to global markets and risk and control assessments.
  • The role involves engaging with multiple teams and to ensure that the training plans are formulated and executed with precision.
  • Focus on Senior Management as well as regulators on training delivery and efficacy.
  • Therefore, it is important to be able to work in a dynamic environment and support the Markets Training & Risk Management framework.
  • Responsible for ensuring seamless communication and teamwork between multiple teams across locations in training management.
  • Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders’ resources across multiple global locations.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage their expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability in creating governance structure/ proceed in an operations environment, preferably around Training management and risk and control function.
  • Good understanding of the financial industry and key regulations on the practices of the financial markets
  • Motivated and dynamic, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to urgent requests
  • Ability to work closely with team members and collaborate with colleagues globally
  • Confident and comfortable with reporting tools and databases, to quickly to learn says organizational al
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a structured, organized approach to work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to interact professionally at all levels in the organization
