Your role

About the Internship:

This role is part of the ALCM, IRRBB Reporting vertical.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • To produce the Interest Rate Risk reports, which include the Economic Value of Equity (EVE) report and net Interest Income (NII) report.
  • The process involves liaising with various in-country team members over email and phone.

The role requires a fair understanding of

  • Financial products,
  • Market product-specific knowledge and
  • Financial /management reporting (with balance sheet focus)
  • Basel III framework.

The role is also accountable for NII projections in a base or stressed environment, along with global stress-testing requirements for HSBC.

  • The role is also accountable for implementing new reports as per the group framework and also for ensuring adherence of reports to the guidelines – internal & regulatory.
  • Ensuring appropriate Reconciliation and validation controls are in place and applied to maintain consistency of accounting processes across the submissions.
  • Aligns practices with existing other teams in ALCM to embed global processes and standard EUCs.
  • Providing instructions and best practice guidance to regional and global business peers.
  • Documenting a clear basis of preparation for each aspect of the consolidation process.
  • The transition of processes/activities basis the Target Operating Model (TOM).

About you

To apply for this role you must have skills and qualifications,

  • Pursuing CA Interns for Industrial training
  • Deep understanding of Balance Sheet and P&L
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good understanding of financial products and how they impact finance operations and more generally the banking business.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS-related products i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Additional skills:

  • Basic knowledge of SQL database (preferable).
  • Knowledge of QRM is a significant plus
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas simply to a global audience.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders of different seniority and geographical location.
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills are mandatory, as are good tact and diplomacy, as the role requires relationship management with other individuals and teams within the HSBC Group
