Your role

Indian Oil is inviting applications for the recruitment of Trade Apprentice for diplomas and graduates in the following areas:

Code 101: Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant) Discipline - Chemical
Code 103:Trade Apprentice (Boiler) Discipline - Mechanical
Code 104:Technician Apprentice Discipline - Chemical
Code 105:Technician Apprentice Discipline - Mechanical
Code 106:Technician Apprentice Discipline - Electrical
Code 107:Technician Apprentice Discipline - Instrumentation
Code 108:Trade Apprentice- Secretarial Assistant
Code 109:Trade Apprentice- Accountant.

Training & development

Apprentices receive hands-on training from industry experts, ensuring they acquire practical skills, and get to be a part of IOCL’s vast network, giving them opportunities to interact with seasoned professionals, attend workshops, and participate in seminars. 

Salary & benefits

  • Stipend: The rate of stipend payable to apprentices per month shall be as prescribed under Apprentices Act, 1961/1973/ Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and the Corporation’s guidelines. The salary of an apprentice can range from 1.5L to 1.7L per annum.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: The Apprentices selected against codes 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106 & 107 shall be provided with one pair of safety shoes & a Helmet (returnable upon completion of training), wherever applicable.
  • Company Accommodation/HRA: No HRA or Company’s accommodation shall be provided to Apprentices.
  • Leave & Holidays: The following leave & holidays shall be admissible to Apprentices: 
    • General Leave- 32 days @ 8 days per quarter during the period of Apprenticeship including on medical grounds.
    • Casual Leave- 12 days per calendar year (pro-rata)
    • An Apprentice shall avail such Holidays as are observed in the establishment in which he/she is undergoing Apprenticeship training.
    • Leave not availed shall lapse at the end of the apprenticeship period.
  • Insurance Coverage: Apprentices shall be covered under suitable Accident Insurance Coverage.
  • Discipline: Apprentices shall be covered under the Certified Standing Orders applicable to workmen at the establishment undergoing Apprenticeship training.
  • Period of Apprenticeship Training: may be extended under certain circumstances as provided under Rule 7 of the Apprentices Rules 1992.

Career progression

Upon completion of the apprenticeship period, the Corporation shall have NO obligation to offer employment to such apprentices NOR can an Apprentice claim right for employment on the grounds of completion of Apprenticeship. This is more of an opportunity to work and learn.

  • 3 years B.Sc (Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry)

Code 104:Technician Apprentice Discipline - Chemical

  • 3 years Diploma in Chemical Engg./Petrochemical Engg./Chemical Technology /Refinery and Petrochemical Engg.

Code 105:Technician Apprentice Discipline - Mechanical

  • 3 years Diploma in Mechanical Engg.

Code 106:Technician Apprentice Discipline - Electrical

  • 3 years Diploma in Electrical Engg. / Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Code 107:Technician Apprentice Discipline - Instrumentation

  • 3 years Diploma in Instrumentation Engg/ Instrumentation & Electronics/ Instrumentation & Control Engg, / Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering

Code 108:Trade Apprentice- Secretarial Assistant

  • 3 years B.A./B.Sc/B.Com

Code 109:Trade Apprentice- Accountant.

  • 3 years B.Com.

General criteria

  • No Claim of possession of a qualification equivalent to a prescribed qualification shall be entertained.
  • Candidates holding a qualification acquired through part-time/correspondence/distance education mode are not eligible.
  • Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as BE/B. Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA, or any such equivalent qualification or pursuing higher qualification and having completed the same on or before joining apprenticeship training, shall not be eligible. A declaration from the candidate in this regard shall be obtained at the time of engagement.
  • A candidate should not have undergone Apprenticeship Training earlier or has been pursuing Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices Act.
  • Candidates having undergone training and /or having job experience for one year or more after the attainment of the qualification shall not be eligible for being engaged as Technician Apprentices.
  • Candidates applying for more than one Trade/Discipline will not be considered and their applications will be summarily rejected.
  • Maximum age limit: 24 Years.
