Responsibilities based on the roles,

1. Partner Development Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Microsoft Business Leader- Supports the creation of a strategic vision rooted in the partner's impact and potential and builds a general understanding of the partner's business. Generally serves partners that are smaller or startups. Shadows other managers to learn how to share the value of partnering with others
  • Partner Transformation - With assistance, supports Business Design briefings advising partner leadership on building a high-impact Microsoft Services practice. Develops and executes foundational partner business plans that support growth in partner business. Considers short- and long-term goals.
  • Partner Sales and Consumption - Supports building a sales plan with others, asks about the partner's pipeline and helps to review the partner's pipeline, top deals, and overall consumption targets. Learns how to coach the partner of top deals and ensures close alignment between the partners' sales team, channel managers, and other relevant teams.

2. Account Management

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Engagement - Builds connections with executives and business and technical decision makers in the assigned accounts to establish trust and credibility in future interactions. Liaises with customers during interactions, focuses on consistently addressing their technical and business needs, explains technical concepts relevant to the customer, and connects the customer to Microsoft executives
  • Account Management- Manages and executes plans for multiple accounts to ensure Microsoft targets and customer business needs are met. Coordinates with specific account management teams on plan execution and drives accountability to deliver on account plans. Orchestrates extended team and embraces partners to scale business. Ensures sales consumption and adoption goals on target
  • Sales Excellence- Seeks feedback from customers (both formal and informal) of assigned accounts to identify and understand the drivers of satisfaction and establishes action plans to improve their overall experience. Leverages internal resources to support customer needs

3. Partner Account Management

Responsibilities:

  • Business Development - Builds trusting relationships with partners to grow business and develop deep understanding of partner priorities, strategies, and goals and how they align with Microsoft’s. Understands markets and partner trends and develops connections with key market players to close and execute on business opportunities
  • Relationship Building and Management - Collaborates with internal teams (e.g., category, specialist sales, marketing) to support partners. Shares overall business plans with relevant stakeholders.
  • Account Management - Works with internal stakeholders and partners under the guidance of team members to develop joint business plans that generate revenue for the partner and Microsoft. Considers short- and long-term goals.
  • Market / Partner Readiness- Consults with leaders and internal stakeholders to define activities and expectations to meet Microsoft and partner sales goals as well as develop go-to-market and co-selling strategies with partners to meet sales goals.

4. Solution Area Specialists

Responsibilities:

  • Sales Execution - Learns how Microsoft's 3-cloud-platform can enable digital transformation areas. Supports team members on digital transformation opportunities in an assigned area by applying established processes and activities
  • Scaling and Collaboration - Collaborates with One Commercial Partner (OCP) and other assigned partners to cross-sell and up-sell products, solutions, and services. Understands the ecosystem of the partners in a solution area
  • Technical Expertise -Learns about direct competitors for the assigned products, solutions, and/or services. Collaborates with the 'compete' global black belts (GBB) to execute strategies that position Microsoft favourably against competitors
  • Sales Excellence- Seeks client feedback (both formal and informal) to identify and understand the drivers of satisfaction and execute plans to maintain and continue to build on it, and to identify and understand the drivers of dissatisfaction, determine the root cause of problems, and establish recovery action plan to improve client’s overall experience. Shares feedback with account teams
