Compliance Summer Analyst Program (Apr 2025)

Your role

Morgan Stanley is seeking interns to join their Legal and Compliance for the Summer Intern Program. This is a 10-week internship program designed as an opportunity to learn more about the important role that Legal and Compliance play within the Firm.

In the Legal & Compliance division, they protect the Firm’s business by identifying risks and designing programs and policies that guide internal teams on ways to address or mitigate those outcomes.

Roles and responsibilities

• Create management information reports periodically.
• Monitor development in regulatory requirements and adjust surveillance models accordingly.
• Review and analyze trade surveillance reports and vendor surveillance system alerts, and sign off alert completion related to an employee, client, and Firm trading activities.
• Provide advice and guidance to employees on their investing and outside activities.
• Conduct investigations on irregularities and abnormal activities and document findings.
• Escalate unresolved issues or potential violations of Morgan Stanley’s policies or external rules and regulations to his/her manager, coverage compliance, and senior management of business units.
• Process requests for T360 (Legal) vendor onboarding/reactivations.
• Handle legal Invoice documentation and associated exceptions.
• Maintenance of outside counsel database and consultant’s time approval.
• Information security assessment for law firms and other vendors.
• Coordinate with legal and compliance employees for entitlement-related reviews and associated procedures.

• University student, who will graduate in 2026
• Track record of academic excellence.
• Outstanding academic record with success in extracurricular activities, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work and interact with others.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and synthesize a variety of data to produce well-designed and meaningful summaries and reports.
• Adept at solving problems and developing efficient processes.
• Experience in MS Office preferably Excel.

Training & development

This structured program is designed to give interns insight into this division and an opportunity to develop and master the analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills needed to develop an exciting and rewarding career. Upon joining, you will go through a training program that covers the policies and procedures of the Legal and Compliance division. During the internship, there will be senior manager presentations and professional skills workshops to provide you with a well-rounded experience.
