Your role

Legal and Compliance Department Center of Excellence (“LCDCOE”) is an extended arm of the different global compliance teams. LCDCOE is responsible for executing compliance oversight including monitoring and/or testing activities across divisions.

Morgan Stanley’s Operational Risk Department (ORD) is looking for interns for 2-6 months. Depending on business needs, the selected individual will be assigned to support any of the following major workstreams within ORD. Possible assignments would include but are not limited to: 

  • Data Monitoring: provides monitoring and analytics on Internal Loss Data, Issues and actions, and External Loss Data. The team also provides support for the Firm’s Non-Financial Risk Framework including the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program and Capital.
  • Operational Risk Metrics: supports the Firm’s Non-Financial Risk Metrics Program including the production and reporting of key risk indicators, key control indicators, and key performance indicators across
  • Strategic Business Analytics: provides data analytics and assists senior operational risk coverage managers via qualitative review of risk data including internal/external incidents and Issues to identify risk themes at the global, regional, or legal entity level
  • Specialized Technical Analytics: provides analytics and reporting in specialized risk management areas such as Technology Risk, Fraud Risk, Cyber Security, and Information Security Risk
  • Operational Mapping: supports the Firm’s Operational Mapping Program which provides a detailed inventory of the non-financial resources (e.g., services, applications, vendors) required by the Firm’s Critical Operations, Core Business Lines, and Material Entities.
  • Business Intelligence and Application Support: supports adoption and implementation of various technology solutions and tools including ongoing administration and maintenance.

About you

The requirements for the role are:

  • MBA with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or any analytical discipline 
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Intellectually curious about risk management with strong analytical, and problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Advanced skills in VBA, Power BI, and Tableau are a plus
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize; comfortable when working under pressure and tight deadlines.
